IENG 461 Six Sigma Green Belt Exam

Credits: (1-0) 1

This self-paced, pass/fail course culminates in a written exam. Passing this exam is necessary component of the Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification.

Learning Objectives:

Students will demonstrate:

The ability to utilize the scientific and engineering language of process improvement.

The ability to describe and utilize the scientific, practical and managerial foundations for statistically-based process/product improvement.

·

The ability to utilize statistical methods to quantify process capability, yield, control, and significant improvement.

·

The ability to describe and utilize the appropriate managerial analyses and practices for sustainable process/product improvement.

·

The ability to model the economic value of process/product improvement processes and make economically correct decisions regarding improvement projects.

IENG 463 Six Sigma Green Belt Project

Credits: (1-0) 1

Taken in conjunction with another course requiring a project, students in this course will use the Six Sigma problem solving philosophy in the completion of the project. Students will then document how they used the Six Sigma process and the results of the project in a written report.

The ability to correctly employ the relevant Six Sigma tools to complete an actual process/product improvement project using the DMAIC cycle.

·

The ability to clearly and completely communicate the completion of an actual process/product improvement project followed the DMAIC cycle.
