All Scores for Spring Term 2020
Posted: All of the HW, Bonus and Exam scores are posted to
the Grades pages and the Estimates are current. Please check your score with bonus before the
end of the term. FINAL TASK: Do the Online Course Evaluation! This term definitely fit the ancient curse: “May
you live in interesting times.” I
would greatly appreciate feedback on what worked, what didn’t, and what
should be done if this course has to be taught via distance in the future –
put this advice into the Comments section, please! Final Scores Check: Please check your scores, and if there is a
discrepancy, do the following: 1.) Go to your Sent Mail folder and look for your submission 2.) Forward your original
submission to
Dr. Jensen (see 3 – 5, below) 3.) The Subject
line should read: IENG
366 CORRECTION 4.) In the message, tell me which assignment/bonus you
are forwarding 5.) Send the forward before Noon (MDT) on Friday, 08 APR 2020 6.) Dr. Jensen will send an acknowledgement to you as
soon as possible This is the last Estimates update until the
official grades are submitted. |

Midterm II Scoring Posts: I am posting the Estimates as I complete grading
each day’s Exam II returns. This is so that those that have already completed
Exam II will know where they stand in the course, and they can maximize their
study time. (An “A” grade cannot be improved by taking the
optional Comprehensive Exam!) The last of the HW, Lab, and Bonus Scores have
been posted to the Grade: Estimates page.
If your grade with Exam II scored is over 90% (with bonus),
congratulations! Please check your scores, and if there is a
discrepancy, do the following: 1.) Go to your Sent Mail folder and look for your submission 2.) Forward your original
submission to
Dr. Jensen (see 3 – 5, below) 3.) The Subject

Schedule Page Updated for End
of Term: Since
it looks like we now know the administrative constraints for Finals, I have
put a plan together for the end of the term on the Schedule Page. “Project Planning” Lecture
Videos will post in Multiple Parts: The
parts will roughly correlate with HW04 and HW05, both of which deal with
project management calculations. You do not need to wait to watch all posted
video parts or wait to start the last two assignments – but if they were
taught on-campus, they would break across two class periods – three periods
counting the Project Organization lecture. 16 APR Lecture Will be ONLINE: The
Engineering Ethics Lecture will need some class participation, so I plan to
send ZOOM invitations by 15 APR. If
you cannot participate, the class will be recorded and posted online by noon
that day. There is no penalty for not
attending online. There
will be a written BONUS points assignment that will follow from this
lecture. It will post on 21 APR and be
due by 5:00 PM on Friday, 24 APR. This
assignment will count as two bonuses for course grade. MIDTERM EXAM II Format Change: Exam
II will primarily consist of work-out and short answer questions. The file will become available
by 23 APR and will be DUE by 5:00 PM Mountain Time on
30 APR. It is
strongly suggested that you START the exam at the regular class time of 8:00
AM on Tuesday, 28 APR. It will be an
open class resources format (you may use materials
available on the COURSE WEBSITE in addition to your engineering
notebook.) The purpose
of this change is to eliminate problems for those who do not have a printer
available for prepping your engineering notebook. You
may NOT consult with anyone other than the Course Instructor to complete the
exam. OPTIONAL COMPREHENSIVE EXAM: This
exam is optional – it will replace BOTH Exam I and Exam II
scores if taken – but ONLY IF IT WILL IMPROVE YOUR
GRADE. It will likely be a RESPONDUS multiple guess/short answer
format with a time limit, but the actual format is not yet established. It will available by 8:00 AM on
04 MAY and will be DUE at NOON on Friday, 08 MAY. It
will likely be machine graded … and it is unlikely that you will have your
Midterm Exam II results ahead of the start time. (Exam II will require a lot of grading
time.) Please see the Discussion Page for more responses to course
delivery issues you may be experiencing. |

Lectures Videos are Being
Posted Earlier for Overnight Download: In
response to a student request, the course lecture videos will be posted
earlier (usually about 6:00 PM the night before schedule) so that they may be
downloaded overnight (when internet traffic is lower). The
pre-recorded, online lecture videos are still posted to the course D2L website. Please go there to access the videos. Lecture Videos are Posted in
Two Parts: As
an experiment, I have/will break the next two lectures into two parts: Part
1 will try to move through the material more quickly, providing an overview. Part
2 will cover the detail necessary to address HW assignments. If you run into
a problem working the HW, it should be easier to find the necessary video
segment in the shorter, second part rather than search the entire lecture
file. Try
this format out on 02 APR and on 07 APR.
If it doesn’t work, let me know… Please see the Discussion Page for more responses to course
delivery issues you may be experiencing. |

Lectures Videos are Online for
2nd Half of Spring 2020: The
SDSM&T administration is requiring that the pre-recorded, online lecture
videos be posted to the course D2L website. Please go there to access the videos. The
videos are pre-recorded and are available by 8:00 AM MDT on the scheduled
day. Distance Office Hours / Help
Sessions for 2nd Half of Spring 2020: Since
I have no way to conduct lab simulations for my other courses, I will use the
times from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays for online office
hours. Initially, these office hours
will be via e-mailed questions, but I will try to set up virtual meetings as
the situation improves. Please
e-mail your questions to me with the Subject: IENG 366
Questions, and I will post summarized questions and responses to the
new Discussion Page on our course website (as quickly as my fingers can
type). The
Discussion Page may be copied and pasted into your Engineering Notebooks for
use on future exams – so asking your question will benefit the whole of the
class – don’t be afraid to ask! Note on Grade Estimates for
Spring 2020: Please
check your scores on the Grades: Estimates Page and bring any discrepancies
to my attention. If you find that an
assignment score is missing, please check your Sent E-mail folder for your
original submission, and if you find it – FORWARD the
original e-mail (and attachments) to me with the Subject:
IENG 366 Correction. Please
be aware that if the Subject line information is not correct, your e-mailed
material may be mis-routed or even sent to the SPAM folder. (I teach several classes and labs, each of
which have online assignments!) Sometimes,
I make mistakes, too. The important
thing is to correct them in-time … so checking periodically is a good idea
(think of it as an AUDIT …). |
